FROM THE JOURNAL TO THE STAGE
Time: 45 min-2 Hours (Day long workshops are also available)
Ages: 10-18 years
Description:
This workshop is a backstage pass into the world of songwriting. Many teenagers play instruments or write poetry, but have a hard time transferring those skills into songwriting. In this workshop, international award-winning songwriter Chad Elliott will demystify the art of songwriting and performance using techniques and examples to break down walls and gain confidence. The participants will also learn the basics of song structure. At the end of the session, the participants will contribute to a “class song” and bring that song to life in a mini-concert. Outside suggestion: This workshop can be paired with a poetry writing project held prior to Chad’s visit. Or participants may bring poetry they've created on their own to the workshop. No instrument or poetry skills are required for this workshop.
